Here is the birth story for Isaiah Lincoln McCully. At approximately 6:00 a.m. I started having contractions. We got to the hospital (Mercy Medical Center) at approximately 9:45 - I had contacted my doctor's office and they told me just to go ahead and go to the hospital. I was admitted to a room at approximately 9:55, was told to go to the bathroom and change into my gown and get a urine sample. I got the urine sample, changed out of my clothes and had another contraction and my water broke and Isaiah's head was instantly in site. I yelled to Kodie "he is coming" Kodie came in, saw the head and yelled for the nurse telling her that the babies head is in site. The nurse said to get me to the bed and after taking two steps Isaiah had slipped completely out of my body and down my leg and eventually to the floor. He didn't hit the floor, just gradually slid onto the floor thanks to the umbilical cord. Kodie scooped him up and yelled down the hall that we needed help now. About 4 doctors and 4 nurses ran in and took over. Kodie was covered in blood. There was blood all over his clothes and even on his face. The entire delivery room floor was covered in blood. I was covered in blood. The baby was okay..he was crying...he just lost a lot of blood; 70% to be exact. He needed to get a blood transfusion. I too had lost a lot of blood but was okay after some stitches. Kodie and I only got to hold Isaiah very briefly before they took him away to get his transfusion. He was taken to the NICU. After his transfusion we received news that his bilirubin was high and his blood platelettes were low. He would have to stay in the NICU until they figured out the problem...............................
